Porsche Snow Force 2016 sets off in YakeshiExperiencing the charm of Porsche at minus 40 degrees
Shanghai/Yakeshi. Porsche China is currently holding the sixth annual Snow Force for its customers and sports car enthusiasts in Yakeshi, Inner Mongolia from January 6 to 30. Over 400 customers and media will join this extreme driving adventure at minus 40 degrees. Carved into the surface of the frozen Yunlong Lake, Porsche has created a professional circuit for Snow Force. Different from previous years, a new track is designed with more curves, to demonstrate the excellent controllability of all Porsche models. In addition, there is also a special driving program of 2mm spiked tyres equipped on Porsche 911 Carrera this year, providing better traction and stability on the ice and snow and creating extreme driving experiences.
“Snow Force is the perfect platform to explore the full capabilities of Porsche sports cars. I truly believe that this is one of the most thrilling driving events that you have ever experienced and will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.” said Mr. Franz Jung, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche China, “Since Porsche first came to China, we have long been dedicated to inherited sports car culture. With this sixth year of the event, Porsche has again raised the bar for hospitality, by paying even closer attention to Porsche customers and enthusiasts in China.”
During this event, Porsche brought its full range of models to Yakeshi, such as the iconic Porsche 911, dynamic Boxster and Cayman, the stylish SUV pioneer Macan, the leading luxury SUV Cayenne, and the 4-door GT Coupe Panamera. Through the severe cold and icy terrain, the participants were able to gain a first-hand insight into the incredible performance, safety and control of every Porsche sports car under all roads and weather conditions. There are more than 12 professional instructors from all over the world, providing the participants with guidance in handling Porsche cars. The course features a range of challenging — and exhilarating — straights, turns, bends and braking zones enabling exercises in slaloming, drifting and acceleration, releasing the driving passion together with Porsche cars.
New 911 Carrera and super sports car 918 Spyder strike a pose at Snow Force
The new 911 Carrera and 918 Spyder are also displayed on-site and perfectly embody the innovative spirit of Porsche: constantly pursuing cutting-edge technology for its customers and enthusiasts. The 911 has always been in the spotlight since its conception over 50 years ago. The completely new generation 3.0 litre engine with bi-turbo charging raises the emotional driving pleasure in the 911 Carrera to give an even more intense experience: 370 hp (272 kW) of power at the rear waiting to be unleashed and converted into sporty propulsion. In addition, the new 911 Carrera can be customised even more precisely according to personal preference for interior materials, wheel style, tyre specification, while also taking daily utility into account.
As the most advanced high-performance hybrid super sports car of its generation, the 918 Spyder follows the “Porsche Intelligent Performance” philosophy and unique innovative advantage. This model intelligently showcases the broadest driving dynamics together with minimum fuel consumption: it not only holds the Nuerburgring Nordschleife lap record of 6 minutes 57 seconds, but can also accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds and boast an average fuel consumption of only 3.0 to 3.3 litres per hundred kilometres. Along with its excellent track performance and perfect combination of sporty and daily driving, the 918 Spyder also ensures sustainability, achieving a pure electric driving experience with zero fuel consumption and emissions—while making only a whisper.
